Prime factorization is achieved when all the factors are prime numbers. For example, the prime factorization of 6 is 2 X 3.

Other examples are:

2 X 2 X 3 = 12

2 X 3 X 7 = 42

11 X 11 = 121

2 X 2 X 3 X 7 X 11 = 924

An example that is not prime factorization is:

2 X 3 X 10 = 60

The reason is that 10 is not a Prime number.

In order for it to be an example of prime factorization, it would have to be:

2 X 2 X 3 X 5 = 60

Now, all the factors are prime numbers.

2 x 3 x 5 x 7 = 210
