The answer depends on whether or not the Prime number is a factor of the other number.

If the prime number is a factor of the other number then the GCF is the prime, otherwise the GCF is 1.

What is the GCF of 108 and 5?

GCF of a prime number and a composite number is 1 if the composite number is not a multiple of the prime number. Here, 5 is a prime number and 108 is a composite number(not the multiple of 5). Therefore GCF of 108 and 5 is 1.

What is the GCF of 56 and 5?

GCF of a composite number and a prime number is always 1. Here, 5 is a prime number therefore, gcf is 1.

What is the greatest common factor of 37 and 50?

The greatest common factor of a prime and a composite number is 1 if the composite number is not divisible by the prime number. 37 is a prime number and 50 is a composite number. Also, 50 is not divisible by 37 therefore GCF = 1.

What is the greatest common factor of 72 and 37?

GCF of a prime number and a composite number is 1 if the composite number is a multiple of the prime number. 37 is a prime number and 72 is not a multiple of 37 because it is not divisible by 37. Therefore, GCF of 72 & 37 is 1.

What is the greatest common factor of 47 and 39?

GCF of a prime number and a composite number is 1 if the composite number is not a multiple of the prime number. It is clear here that 39 is not a multiple of 47, therefore GCF(47, 39) = 1.

Will a prime number and a composite number always have a GCF of 1?

Not if the composite number is a multiple of the prime number.

What is the gcf of 18 and 24 is it prime or composite?

The gcf of 18 and 24 is 6 which is a composite number because it has more than two factors.

What is the greatest common factor of 24 and 47?

GCF of a prime number and a composite number is 1 if the prime number is not a factor of the composite number. Here 103 is a prime number and 120 is a composite number. And 120 is not divisible by 103(or 103 is not a factor of 120). So, GCF(103,120) = 1

What is the greatest common factor of 18 and 73?

The GCF of a prime number and a composite number is 1 if the former is not a factor of the latter. 73 is a prime number and 18 is a composite number and 73 is not a factor of 18 because 18 is not divisible by 73. So, GCF(73, 18) = 1.

Does the greatest common factor have to be a prime number?

No for example the GCF of 24 and 36 is 12 which is a composite number

What is the GCF of 29 and 37?

Since 29=29*1=prime & 37 is not a multiple of 29, the GCF of any prime and non-multiple composite number is 1

What is the gcf of 52 and is it prime or composite?

52 is composite. You need at least two numbers to find a GCF.
