Every number is closer to 2 than a number that is further away. For example, 5 million is closer to 2 than 10 million is. And 10 million is closer than 25 trillion is. But even that is closer to 2 than 26 trillion is.

Conversely, no number can be the closest to 2. If x is close to 2 (but not equal to 2), then it is easy to prove that the average of x and 2 = (x + 2)/2 is closer to 2 than x was. And then, the average of that new number and 2 is closer still. And so on - forever.
