A Prime number has only one and itself as its factors. A composite number also has other factors - it is made up of smaller prime factors. For example, 14 is composite - its prime factors are 2 and 7 (2 x 7 = 14).

Any even number, by definition, is divisible by 2, so it is composite (except for the number 2 itself, which doesn't have other factors).
