∙ 13y agoAssuming a regular rectangular box, you measure the length, width and heighth and multiply them all together. To get cubic feet you divide cubic inches by 1.728.
You would be measuring the outside lengths to get the displacement ( how much room the box will take up ) and the inside lengths to get the capacity.
LOOPDOP says: Divide cubic inches by 1728.0 to get to cu.ft.

∙ 13y agoCubic feet means you're interested in the "volume". Volume is calculated by multiplying the length times the width (or breadth) times the height of the box. Since your dimensions are given in inches, your result will be in "cubic inches".
If you want to convert that to cubic feet, you CANNOT just divide by 12 (12 inches in a foot), because that's a linear conversion. There are 12x12x12 cubic inches in one cubic foot, so you have to divide by 12x12x12 - in other words, take your result from the first step and divide by 1,728!
Imagine little 1in cubes all lined up, 12 in a row. Then imagine 12 rows of these. That would give you 1 square foot of little boxes. Now imagine 12 layers just like this, and you can see how the numbers quickly add up!

∙ 13y agoYou multiply the height times the width times the length. Use inches and divide the answer by 1728, or use feet.

∙ 12y agoIt depends on the size of the box. The formula for area of a cube or rectangle is length times width times height.
You cannot convert area to cubic inches. An area is a two dimensional measure whereas cubic inches are a measure of volume (in 3-dimensional space). The two measure different things and, according to basic dimensional analysis, conversion between the two is not valid.
300^3 feet = 3600^3 inches. Dimensional weight in the USA is cubic inches/194, thus 18.5lb Internationally it is cubic inches/166, thus 21.6lb http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimensional_weight
You cannot convert cubic inches to inches. Cubic inches are units of volume and inches are units of length.
To convert cubic inches to gallons, divide cubic inches by 231:Cubic inches / 231 = US gallons
1 liter has 61,02374 cubic inches.
If you mean convert it to cubic inches - multiply it by 1728 (the number of cubic inches in a cubic foot) to get 61022.59 in3
Cubic inches is a volume unit and inches is a length unit, you can't simply convert it.
You can convert between feet and inches, or between cubic feet and cubic inches. You can not convert between cubic feet and inches.
To convert inches to cubic feet, you first need to convert inches to feet by dividing by 12 (since 12 inches = 1 foot). Then, to find the volume in cubic feet, you would need to multiply the length, width, and height (in feet) together if you are working with a three-dimensional object.
Cubic inches x 0.0000164 = cubic meters
multiply the cubic inches by 3.
