Volume of 1 foot of 6 inch dia. pipe: Cross-sectional area = pi*r^2 = pi*(3 in)2 = 3.14 * (3 in)2 = 28.26 in2. 1 ft = 12 in, so (28.26 in2)*(12 in) = 339.12 in3.

1 gallon = 231 in3, so (339.12 in3) / (231 in3/gal) = 1.47 gallons (in 1 foot of pipe)

First you need to make the measurements into all inches (mile = 63,360inches). Then you put the numbers in the formula for the volume of a cylinder which is pi*radius2*height. 3.14*3inches(radius)*63,360inches(height) which is approximately 1,791,461.794783 cubic inches. Once you have that you then find out how many cubic inches are in a gallon of water. One(1) U.S. liquid gallon has exactly 231 cubic inches. To get the answer you divide 1791461.794783 cubic inches by 231 cubic inches which is approximately 7,755 gallons and 4 cups.

Convert 600 feet to inches = 600 * 12 = 7200 inches

Volume of cylinder = ( area * length)

= (pi * radius2) * length

= 3.1416 * 9 * 7200 = 203575.68 cubic inches

= 881.28 US gallons, or

= 733.82 UK gallons

Either 162 or 646 gallons depending on whether you mean six inches in diameter or radius.

To calculate the number of gallons, multiply the area of the end of the pipe by the length of the pipe. The end of the pipe has the area 𝛑r2 where r is the radius.

The formula would then be:

𝛑r2 * length

A six inch diameter has a radius of three inches so plugging that in gives 162 gallons, but a six inch radius gives 646 gallons, which is nearly 4x as much since

The volume of a cylinder is [ pi R2 L ].

1 gallon = 231 cubic inches

The capacity of the pipe is [ pi (3)2 (12) ] = 108 pi = 339.39 cubic inches = 1.4688 gallon. (rounded)

We have no way of knowing how much water is in it. For all we know, the pipe may be empty.

Volume of a cylinder = (pi) x (radius)2 x (length)

Radius = 1/2 of the diameter = 3-ft

Volume of a 1-foot section = (pi) x (3)2 x (1) = 9 pi = 28.274 cubic feet = 211.51 gallons (rounded)
