1. All metric units use base 10 which is the same base as we use for counting so you can easily do calculations.

2. The units are related and easily memorised, 1 cubic metre is 1000 litres,1 km² is 1000 x1000 m, 1 hectare (ha) is 100 x 100 m is 10 000 m² and 1 litre of water weighs 1 kg.at 4° C. This makes calculations very easy.

3. It's already here, so if you use any other system you will constantly be converting back and forth. If you use metric then you can tell the other guy to do the conversion before he tries to communicate with you.'

4. America is the only industrialised nation which uses the imperial system as their prime measurement. People say its not accurate. But then how did they put a man on the moon first with feet, and is one of the fastest growing nations (except China) and economically stable.

5.Metric's base number is 10. Sure it is easy to work with, being able to divide by 1,2,5 and 10. But the imperial system uses 12 as its base number, its able to divide by 1,2,3,6 and 12. The imperial can be divided into more numbers and is better for small fractions

The only real advantage is that most of the world uses it. If you describe your height and weight in feet and pounds in USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Myanmar and Many other countries you will be understood.

Who wants to work with something the French cooked up anyway!
