I have just weighed a large piece of green oak and it is approx 1000Kg per cubic metre. But this figure will vary widle due to the density and the moisture content of the timber. We supply green oak buildings and there has allways been a difference in weight of pieces of oak of the same size. Hope this helps
Because balsa wood is much lighter
The weight of a cubic meter of wood can vary depending on the type of wood. On average, hardwoods like oak or maple can weigh around 700-800 kg (1543-1764 lbs) per cubic meter, while softwoods like pine may weigh around 400-500 kg (882-1102 lbs) per cubic meter.
The weight of green oak can vary depending on the species, moisture content, and size of the board. On average, green oak weighs around 45 to 55 pounds per cubic foot. To calculate the weight per square foot, you would need to know the thickness of the board.
The weight of dried Oak wood is approximately 45-47 pounds per cubic foot. For a .75 inch thick board, the weight would be around 3-4 pounds per square foot, depending on the specific density of the wood.
The oven-dried weight of 8.66 tons (7.86 tonnes) is the mass -- which varies by species -- of a 78.41-foot- (23.9-meter-) tall, 15.5-ton (14.38-tonne), 222-year-old oak tree in the OneOak project through the Sylva Foundation. That represents a 58.39-foot- (17.8-meter-) diameter crown oven-dried weight of 4.88 tons (4.43 tonnes) and a 35.35-inch- (89.8-centimeter-) tall main trunk oven-dried weight of 3.78 tons (3.43 tonnes). The mass of oak wood tends toward 1,300.73 to 2,050.3 pounds per cubic foot (590 to 930 kilograms per cubic meter).
Kiln dried Red Oak at 6 percent moisture content weighs 4.444 ounces per cubic inch WRONG! 4.444 ounces per cubic inch is off by a factor of 10. It should be .4444 ounces per cubic inch
On average, a fresh oak log can weigh between 2,400 to 2,900 pounds per cord (128 cubic feet). The weight can vary depending on the moisture content, type of oak, and size of the log.
The weight of glass can vary depending on the type of glass, but a commonly used average weight for general purposes is around 150 pounds per cubic foot.
You would use meter's to measure an oak tree's height.
Typically, one cubic foot of oak wood will produce about 24 million BTUs of energy when burned.
