There are 1000 grams in a kilogram. "Kilo" is a prefix meaning 1,000. Therefore to convert to grams you must multiply by 1000. 3.5 * 1000 = 3,500g. (Note: you can calculate this easily simply by moving the decimal point 3 places to the right.)
