240 Volt 60 Hz supplies are used in the US, Canada and other countries which use similar wiring codes. (Click the related question to see its answer.)

Perhaps someone can give an answer to this question here concerning 240 Volt, 60 Hz supplies? == == Assuming you are in the UK [240v, 50 Hz is what the original answerer said, but, please note in the UK the National Grid has been running at a nominal 230 Volts for some time now. Your question does not give very much information. Do you need to run a cable 60ft to power an appliance drawing 20A. For short runs, 2.5mm would suffice, but at this length, I would suggest going to 6mm or if you really want to play safe, 10mm cable. Don't forget that Part P of the Building Regulations, regarding Electrical Safety, may apply, in which case you will need to apply to your Local Council (= Local Authority) *before you start* and pay them lots of money to inspect your new installation!

Unless you know *exactly* what you are doing, employ an NICEIC contractor (who will be able to self-certify) to do the job for you. You can still do the donkey work, following his verbal or written instructions, but he must make all the connections. IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY SURE YOU CAN DO THIS JOB

SAFELY AND COMPETENTLY

REFER THIS WORK TO QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS.

If you do this work yourself, always turn off the powerat the breaker box/fuse panel BEFORE you attempt to do any work AND always use a meter or voltage indicator to insure the circuit is, in fact, de-energized.
