the formula for the area of a triangle is; a=1/2 base times height. so for example: a triangle may have a base length of 6 inches and a height of 3 inches. a=1/2 6(3) the answer would be: 9 inches.

What is the formula for finding the area of irregular plane figures in mathematics?

There is no such formula. To determine the area of an irregular plane shape split it into known shapes such as rectangles, triangles, segments of a circle etc. Determine the area(s) of each of these and sum the results to find the total area.

Do 2 triangles with 2 equal sides have the same area?

Only if the two triangles are congruent will they have equal areas. A third fact is required to determine they are congruent (and thus have the same area): 1) The third sides are equal; 2) The angles enclosed between the sides are equal; or 3) The same one of the sides is the hypotenuse of the triangles, which are right angled triangles.

How do you find the area of a zig zag shape?

Assuming its sides are all straight, divide the area into a set of individual triangles &/or other polygons, determine the area of each element then sum these.

Why are triangles congruent that have three sides but the same is not true for triangles that have the same three angles?

The same three sides also determine the angles uniquely. However, the same three angles do not uniquely determine the sides: they only determine the ratio between the sides. So, two triangles with the same angles can be of different size (similar triangles).

what- A quilt maker is cutting out triangles for a quilt.Which statement is correct?

There is not enough information to determine whether or not the triangles are similar.

How can you determine when two triangles are similar?

You determine the similarity of two triangles through the equality of each two relevant lines and the equality of each relevant two interior angels.

What is the formula for a triangular pyramid in surface area?

A=1/2bh The area of a triangle is 1/2bh. If the base of it is a triangle and all 4 of the triangles aren't the same, then you have to find the area of the base triangle and then the three other triangles (which should all have the same area). If all four of the triangles have the same area, then just find the area of one of the triangles and multiply that by four. A triangular pyramid that has four equal triangles is also called a tetrahedron.

What is the area of a triangle with a side of 12 and a right angle?

That's not enough information to determine the area of that triangle. There are an infinite number of different right triangles, with different areas, that all have one side of 12.

How can you find the area of a polygon that is not one for which you know an area formula?

Divide the polygon into triangles. Calculate the areas of the triangles and then sum these.

How do you find aras of triangles and parallelograms?

Triangles you use : (base x perpendicular height) divided by 2. Parallelogram: you need to find the area of one of the side triangles, then double it (because there's two of them). Then find the area of the square in the middle, and add this to the area of the two triangles.

What is the surface area of a regular pyramid with a slant height of 21 and a base of 5?

It is impossible to answer the question without knowing the shape of the base, which will determine how many sloped triangles there are.
