t(1) = a = 54

t(4) = a*r^3 = 2

t(4)/t(1) = r^3 = 2/54 = 1/27 and so r = 1/3

Then sum to infinity = a/(1 - r) = 54/(1 - 1/3) = 54/(2/3) = 81.

How do you find a geometric mean?

If there are only k numbers x(1),x(2)....,x(k), the geometric mean is the kth root of the product of these k numbers. Example: find the geometric mean of 4,3,7,8 We want the fourth root of 4 x 3 x 7 x 8 = 672 =(672)^(1/4) = 5.09146 is the geometric mean. The geometric mean is normally defined only for a set of positive numbers.

What do you do to get the geometric mean?

You multiply each of the numbers together and then take the nth principal root, where n is the number of values multiplied together. So Geometric Mean (2, 3, 4, 5) = fourth root of (2*3*4*5) = 120 = 3.31 (approx).
