If you had a circle and you halved it, exactly in the middle, then that line would be a line of symmetry!

And it is the same with a square. If you halve it exactly in the middle then that would be called a line of symmetry!

And then all the lines of symmetry in a square are down, across, diagonal from the left and then diagonal from the right!

But in a circle there are LOTS of lines of symmetry!

Your body has how many lines of symmetry?

One's body has just one line of symmetry. Humans have bilateral symmetry. This means they have symmetry across one plane (known as the sagittal plane, and directly down the centre of their body), which means one side of their body approximately mirrors the other side.

Why does a triangle with line symmetry have to be isosceles?

The basis of symmetry is that everything on one side of an imaginary line is the same as the other. This means that if you split a triangle down the middle by an imaginary line, one side of the triangle on both halves will be the same. This defines an isosceles triangle. An equilateral triangle also has line symmetry.
