REGULAR verbs, such as 'to jump', are conjugated according to standard rules of grammar, and the regular past simple tense is made by adding ~ed to the verb.

e.g. 'I jump' becomes 'I jumped'

Other examples of regular verbs:

  1. continue -> continued
  2. cry -> cried
  3. walk -> walked
  4. seed -> seeded [as in seeding a lawn]

IRREGULAR verbs, such as 'to feed', do not conform to the normal rules of grammar. They have special forms for the past simple tense e.g. I feed the birds, becomes I fed the birds, NOT I feeded the birds.

Other exampes of irregular verbs:

  1. bring -> brought
  2. come -> came
  3. sing -> sang
  4. do -> did
