So here is some more information.
I am working on a project where I had to find the amount of different rectangles found in a 4x4 grid. The second part being how to find a solution for nxn grid
After a lot of pattern searching and working on some smaller grids I know that there are the following options
1x1 =1rectangle
2x2 =9rectangles
3x3 =36rectanges
and finally 4x4 which had 100 rectangles in it
I know the formula is n(n+1)/2 then sxs where s is the solution. My problem is I cant seem to figure out why you have to divide by the 2 or add the one , ect. I know it has something to do with the amount of axis ( at least I think). My question would be can anyone help walk me through this formula to make sure I am on the right track?
Squares are rectangles so the formula for area will stay the same.
It is helpful because when you do the problem you know what to do.
There is no such formula. To determine the area of an irregular plane shape split it into known shapes such as rectangles, triangles, segments of a circle etc. Determine the area(s) of each of these and sum the results to find the total area.
Rectangles, being two-dimensional objects, do not have volume. Rectangular prisms, on the other hand, do. The equation for their volume is length*width*height, or lwh.
The formula for finding probability depends on the distribution function.

The formula for finding the surface area of a rectangle is length x width. 3.14 is the value for pi and is used for circles, cylinders, and spheres and has nothing to do with rectangles.
I beleve that is the formula for finding the area of a rectangle or squareLength*Width equals area for rectangles. LxW=Area of a rectangle.
See OHMS LAW on the internet with a search engine. It will explain everything.

The base of a rectangular prism is just an old familiar 2D rectangle. All the old familiar 2D formulas for rectangles still apply to it.

The formula for quadrilaterals depends on what shape. Example.... Formula for rectangles: 2L x 2W Formula for squares: 4S
The formula for finding probability depends on the distribution function.
No because the formula for finding the area of an oval, which is an ellipse, is quite different
Triangular prism = 2 triangles + 3 rectangles.
