You may want to be a little more specific about what your question is asking.......

you can solve a variable in an equation or expression. For example: 1+2=y

just remember, you arnt necessarily "solving" a variable, but I guess you could say that considering a variable can change continuously. Be sure to consider that if you do "solve" a variable you end up with a constant ( a never-changing number) therefore, it is no longer a variable, but just an answer.
