Why should you estimate before you find the sum or difference of larger number?
Maths Teachers ask students to estimte the sums of large numbers before they actually solve the solution because students that do this regularly will eventually become very accurate and will soon be able to guess the entire problem correctly without any working out. Estimating is a very good learning technique and is very effiecient! Hope this helps!

Is it true that teachers are very hard on the students and do not really listen to what the student has to say?
The problem with trying to learn things is that sometimes you do not have the experience, or the readiness, to learn them. When the teacher has a particular thing to teach and there is not any other way that the work can be done then their comments can seem like they don't listen. I have heard comments like this about different teachers and it often has to do with not agreeing with a student request to change the assignment or expectation. Most teachers are there because they do want to pass on the information, so the thing is to figure out what you need to ask to get what you need.
