Probably only basic measurements and simple arithmetic. Sizes of tools and fastenings, torque-wrench settings, fluid quantities, dimensions of components...

The real maths is carried out by the transmission engineer - the man or woman who designed it.

And gears and hydraulic systems are very mathematical beasts indeed! :-)
