There are two methods:
1) convert both the numbers into improper fractions, change the denominator so they both are the same (remembering to change the numerator by the corresponding amount also), then add them together. You can change the answer back to a mixed number if you want to.
For example: 1 1/2 + 3 3/4 = 3/2 + 15/4 = 6/4 + 15/4 = 21/4 = 5 1/4
2) add the first part of the numbers together, then change just the fraction so that they have matching denominator (once again making sure the numerator is multiplied by the same amount) and then adding the fraction onto the number (changing the fractions total into mixed number if you have to)
For example: 1 1/2 + 3 3/4 = 4 + 1/2 + 3/4 = 4 + 2/4 +3/4 = 4 + 5/4 =
4 + 1 1/4 = 5 1/4
1.21 as a mix number
multiply the denominator by the whole number, then add the numerator, the denominator is the same as the mixed numbers denominator
Multiply the denominator by the whole number, add that total to the numerator and put the whole thing over the original denominator. 3 and 1/4 = 13/4
A compatible number is a number that is easy to add when you add it together.
If the number has a + sign then you add it, if it has a - sign, then you subtract it.
Multiply the bottom by the whole number...and then add THAT number by the top number, hope this is what you're looking for!
if its an equation then add the big numbers then add the fractions using like denominators afterwards simplify
Multiply the whole number part by the denominator of the fractional part and add the result to the numerator of the fractional part.
It will neutralize the mix.

Well lets say you have the fraction 1 and 2/5. You do 5x1 ( The denominator times the whole number,) and then add 2 ( add the numerator) Hope I helped!
You have to add about 3 puddings to make a cake mix moist.
all u need to do is add detergent and mix it
To convert a mixed number to an improper fraction, multiply the denominator by the whole number, add that total to the numerator and put the whole thing over the original denominator.
