Gauge in floor tile is the thickness in thousandths of an inch.

.080 is simply 8 one hundredths of an inch or about 1/12th of an inch thick

.125 is 1/8" of an inch so it is 1/8" thick.

How many sq yards vinyl flooring will it take to cover the floor?

That will depend in a very fundamental way on the area of the floor. For example, the floor of one room in a doll house, the floor of your bedroom, and the floor of Radio City Music Hall will all require vastly different amounts of vinyl flooring. Here's a way to estimate it: -- Measure the length of the room, in feet. -- Measure the width of the room, in feet. -- Multiply the two numbers, one by the other. -- Divide the answer by 9. The number you have now is the area of the floor, in square yards. The number of square yards of flooring it will take to cover the floor is that same number.

How thick is 16pt vinyl in mil?

16pt vinyl is equivalent to 16 mils in thickness. In printing and graphic design, "pt" (points) and "mil" (thousandths of an inch) are often used interchangeably, where 1 pt is equal to 1 mil. Therefore, 16pt vinyl measures 0.016 inches in thickness.

How do you strip and seal vinyl floors?

I have old (20 plus probably) Kentile flooring in my home that I would like to wax. They are very dull and only stay shiny for a short period of time when I wax them with just a generic floor wax such as Johnsons or Armstrong. Does anyone know the proper procedure for cleaning, sealing, waxing this type of floor? Vinyl flooring is the easiest flooring to maintain. It cleans up easily with a myriad of products. I prefer "Armstrong" vinyl floor cleaner. It is available at most supermarkets. Follow the instructions on the label. For deeper cleaning- particularly on textured vinyl- get on your hands and knees and use a scrub brush. I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results.
