Lets say its 3.8 divided by 17.1.

Take the decimal, and bring it to the right of the 8.

Then bring the decimal inside the box, and bring it to the right of the 1 at the end of
17.1.

If you don't know regular division, then look-> 3.8 divided by 17.1 Then, follow the
above information and do the following.

Can 38 go into 1? No.

Can it go into 17? No.

Can it go into 171?

Yes! How many times does 38 go into 171?

Then write the answer on the top. How many times does 38 go into THAT number?

When you get that, subtract 17 by that number.

Then after that, drop the last number.

How many times does 38 go into THAT, now?

Then subtract your previous number you got with the one you got just now.
