2 5/7 is a mixed number. another way to look at, as a sum of 2 and 5/7, ends up with the same number. first step is to change the whole part, the 2, into a fraction that also ends up at the same number. 2 is the same as 14/7. so our sum has been changed to 14/7 plus 5/7. Now we can combine the numerators of the fractions that have the same denominator. (14+5)/7. it is now a single fraction 19/7!
