what you need to do is, divide the top number by the bottom. for example, 1/10 is the same as 1 divided by 10 which is 0.1

You divide the numerator by the denominator (the top number by the bottom number).

For example,

25

--- in money is twenty-five cents

100

Converting to decimal, 25 divided by 100 equals 0.25.
