That's easy...all you have to do is get dye(any color will do) water, clear straw(any other color will not work) and a glass jarwith a sealing lid .
Then you combined the water and dye together put it in the glass jar, punch a hole through the lid(has to be big enough for the straw and small enough so that air can't seep out)Then you push the straw through the hole ( if there is some extra space in the lid after the straw is in the hole put tape around the seeping part). then block the top of the straw and tape it up the put the themometer in the sun

To measure temperature
Sure. Just make sure you get all the answers right.
because that is far the degrees goes on earth. otherwise 200 degrees or over we all as humans will die or be dead. or the mercury themometer will explode.
With alot of imagination and some of your geek-friends inn homemade trash suits.... you can..... just don't jump off a cliff.
In a homemade lava lamp experiment, the independent variable is the factor that is being manipulated or changed by the researcher, such as the type or amount of ingredients used in the lava lamp. The dependent variable is the factor that is being measured or observed as a result of the changes made to the independent variable, such as the rate of bubbling or movement of the colored liquid in the lava lamp. Other controlled variables, such as room temperature, container size, and stirring technique, should also be considered to ensure the validity of the experiment.
