Realize that the whole number can be written as a fraction too.

For example, let's say you want the product of 30 and 1/2

30 is the same thing as 30/1

30/1 * 1/2 can be solved my multiplying the numerators together and the denominators together. This will leave you with 30/2 = 15

As you get more experienced with this, you will do this much quicker and almost subconsciously.
