i think you mean a scaler quantity.

a scaler quantity is something that is measured without a directional component to it.

ie. mass, temperature, speed

it could be negative value but the negative means its value. you can use a scale to measure scaler quantity.

then there is vector quantities which have a direction to it.

ie. velocity

because something like velocity is 10m/s east OR -10m/s

here the negative it is not a value but a direction (if 10m/s is to the right then -10m/s is to the left)

don't confuse this with speed because speed is scaler it is just magnitude or value only.

velocity is the displacement over time so it have a direction aswell.

hope this helps

How do you scaling quantities?

To scale quantities proportionally, you simply multiply or divide the quantity by the scaling factor. For example, if you want to double a quantity, you would multiply it by 2. If you want to scale a quantity by a different factor, you would use that factor in the multiplication or division process accordingly.

What does Scale Factor mean?

A scale factor is a number which scales, or multiplies, some quantity. A scale factor of two would mean to multiply whatever it is by two.

How do you find the scale of a pie chart?

There is no need for a scale on a pie chart because the sizes of the slices are proportional to the percentage of the quantity pictured by the graph.

What is scale quantity. give examples?

Scale quantity refers to the number of units represented by each division on a scale. For example, a scale on a map may represent 1 inch as 10 miles, meaning each inch on the map represents 10 miles in the actual distance. Another example is a scale on a thermometer where each division represents a set temperature range, such as 2 degrees Celsius per division.

How does a quantity differ from a unit?

A quantity is a numerical value that represents the amount or measurement of something, while a unit is a standardized amount used to measure that quantity. Quantity is the actual numerical value, while unit is the specific measurement scale used to quantify the quantity.

What is meant by unit of a physical quantity in physics?

The unit of a physical quantity in physics is a standardized way to express and measure that quantity. Units give the quantity a numerical value and specify the scale at which it is being measured. Units are essential for consistency and clarity when communicating about physical quantities.

What is the PCS button on digital scale?

The PCS button on a digital scale stands for "Pieces" and is used to count the quantity of items of a known weight placed on the scale. By entering the weight of a single piece, the scale can then calculate how many pieces are on the scale based on the total weight.
