This is how I learned my order of operations:
Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally
which means that you must solve equations in this order:
First, you solve everything that is in a parenthesis. (the please)
Then, you evaluate an exponents. (excuse)
The order doesn't matter, just go from left to right and solve all that is multiplying and diving. (my dear)
And finally add and subtract from the left to the right.
You cant solve it unless it is an equation. To be an equation it must have an equals sign.
You find, or construct, an equation or set of equations which express the unknown variable in terms of other variables. Then you solve the equation(s), using algebra. You find, or construct, an equation or set of equations which express the unknown variable in terms of other variables. Divide big # by little #.
By using the quadratic equation formula
You don't use unknown variables to solve an equation. The purpose of solving an equation is to find the value of the variable so that it's no longer unknown.

Use a variable to represent the unknown. 'Translate' the words to math symbols and write an equation to solve. Solve the equation. Check.

Addition and subtraction are inverse operations. So you can solve addition by subtracting.
To solve a diophantin equation using python, you have to put it into algebraic form. Then you find out if A and B have a common factor. If they have a common factor, then you simplify the equation. You then build a three row table and build the table.
I assume your trying to solve for the x variable? Use the quadratic formula (Google it) to find the roots to a second order equation (equation that contains a variable to power of 2). Using that equation, you get x values of 6 and -3. The only other way to solve it is with trial and error, which can be quite tedious.
The answer will depend on the exact nature of the equation.
For an equation of the form ax² + bx + c = 0 you can find the values of x that will satisfy the equation using the quadratic equation: x = [-b ± √(b² - 4ac)]/2a
