Because of the zero property of multiplication we must first set it equal to zero and factor the equation.
z^2+8z=-15
z^2+8z+15=0
(z+3)(z+5)=0 either z+3=0 or z+5=0
So, z=-3 or z=-5
The way I factored it is looked for two numbers that multiplied to give me 15 but added to make 8. 1 and 15 didn't work. 3 and 5 worked.
z = -2
-8z + 5z = -3z
10x + 2y + 8z - 5x + 4z - 4y = 10x - 5x + 2y - 4y + 8z + 4z = (10 - 5)x + (2 - 4)y + (8 + 4)z = 5x - 2y + 12z
By collecting like terms: 8z+4-2x
8z-5 = 11 add 5 to both sides 8z = 16 divide both sides by 8 z = 2
By including its plus or minus signs
2z+6z+24=0 8z+24=0 8z= -24 z= - 3
z = -2

-8z + 5z = -3z
10x + 2y + 8z - 5x + 4z - 4y = 10x - 5x + 2y - 4y + 8z + 4z = (10 - 5)x + (2 - 4)y + (8 + 4)z = 5x - 2y + 12z
-8z + 12 = 12 - 4z-8z +4z + 12 = 12 - 4z +4z-4z + 12 -12 = 12 -12-4z / -4 = 0 / -4z = 0:)
By collecting like terms: 8z+4-2x
8z-5 = 11 add 5 to both sides 8z = 16 divide both sides by 8 z = 2
8
eight times x equals 5
