Because of the zero property of multiplication we must first set it equal to zero and factor the equation.

z^2+8z=-15

z^2+8z+15=0

(z+3)(z+5)=0 either z+3=0 or z+5=0

So, z=-3 or z=-5

The way I factored it is looked for two numbers that multiplied to give me 15 but added to make 8. 1 and 15 didn't work. 3 and 5 worked.
