For each of the items that you want to compare, you calculate the unit prices: that is, the price for either 1 kilogram, or 1 litre or 1 unit. The cheapest is the best buy. Alternatively, you work out how much (in the same units) you could et for 1 unit of money. In that case the largest quantity is the best buy.

Both these methods will only give the "best" buy in terms of cost per quantity. It takes no account of quality.
