It really depends onthe specific problem. The most basic type of calculation is to "calculate x% of y". Some calculators have a special percentage key; check your calculator's manual for detail. But even without that, it's really very simple. You can do part of the calculation in your head and simply type in a multiplication. Just remember that a percentage is a fraction with a denominator 100. Here is an example:

"Calculate 7% of 2000"

The calculation is: 0.07 x 2000

Note that 0.07 is 7, with the decimal point moved two digits to the left. This is equivalent to dividing by 100. In other words, "7% of 2000" = "7% times 2000" = "7/100 times 2000" = "0.07 times 2000".

Dividing by 100 is really so simple that you should be able to do this part in your head. Practice until you can do it. However, you can also include this in the calculation you type in your calculator: in this case, 7 / 100 x 2000.
