To write a decimal for a fraction with a denominator of 5, you double the numerator and a decimal point in front of it if the numerator is less than 5. For example, 1/5 becomes .2 (1*2=2). 2/5 becomes .4, 3/5 becomes .6 and so on. When the numerator is greater than 5, you still double the numerator but move the decimal only one place to the left. For example, 6/5 becomes 1.2 (6*2=12). 7/2 becomes 1.4, 8/5 becomes 1.6 and so on.

You are given a fraction in simplest form the numerator is not zero when you write the fraction as a decimal it is a repeating decimal which numbers from 1 to 10 could be the denominator?

You can get a repeating fraction with any denominator whose prime factors include some numbers other than 2 or 5. This is because 2 and 5 are the prime factors of 10 - the base of our decimal system. In this case, the denominator can be any of: 3, 6, 7, 9

What is fraction notation?

A fraction has a numerator set above its denominator If the numerator is less than the denominator then it is a common fraction as for example 3/4 which as a decimal is 0.75 If the numerator is greater than the denominator then it is an improper fraction as for example 5/4 which as a decimal is 1.25

How do you devert 0.5 into a fration?

You write that as 5 / 10, then simplify.(And if the decimal number has two decimal places - for example 0.72 - you put 100 in the denominator. If the decimal number has three decimal places, you put 1000 in the denominator, etc.)

How do you write five and eight tenths as a decimal?

Write the five as the whole number before the decimal point then divide the numerator (eight) by the denominator (ten) of the fraction and put it after the decimal point: 58/10 = 5 + (8 ÷ 10) = 5.8

Why can any decimal that ends in the thousandths place be written as a fraction with a denominator that is divisible by 2 and 5?

How do you write a fraction that is already in simplest form as a decimal and a percent?

for a fraction-decimal carry out the problem. 4/5=4 divided by 5= 0.8 for a decimal-percentage times the decimal by 100. 0.8*100=80% for a fraction-percentage make the denominator 100 and the numerator becomes the percentage. numerator/denominator (remember that any action that you carry out on one you must do the same on the other) 4/5... (4*x)/(5*x[when 20*5=100]... (20*4)/(5*20)=80/100=80%

How do you write 0.6 in a fraction?
