Then plug the square root of 5 in for x in the origingal or the equation you solved to find y. Leaving you with y=0. This can be checked by plugging in the answers to the original equation and making sure it ends up w/ the appropriate answer. In this cas (square root of 5)^2 + 3(0)=5 Thus 5=5 so these answers are correct.
