It is certainly used in calculus, just as calculus can be used in trigonometry.
well, nothing is for sure but it is said that Hipparchus, a Greek geographer. its kind of odd though. but they say that they have evidence of his systematic use of trigonometry. Also Menelaus and Ptolomy helped in the development of trigonometry.
The branch of mathematics called trigonometry studies the relationships of lengths and angles of triangles. Three mathematicians who contributed to the development of trigonometry are: Pythagoras, Joseph Fourier, Norman J. Wildberger.
Trigonometry is used to find the distance and angle of atoms that are bonding. Oh this is for chemistry by the way hope this was helpful. :)
Trigonometry is used effectively in electronics.
Ptolemy's major contribution to trigonometry was his work on chords in a circle, which led to the development of the trigonometric functions sine, cosine, and tangent. He compiled a table of chords that facilitated trigonometric calculations and navigational measurements. Ptolemy's work influenced the development of trigonometry in the medieval Islamic world and later in Europe.

Trigonometry is used a lot in video games to calculate the distance between things. For example, in a game like Skyrim the game will use trigonometry to calculate the distance between the player and his objective and display it on the map. For example, if the player was standing on the ground and the objective was on top of a hill 5 metres from the player that is 3 metres tall, you can use trigonometry to work out the distance. It would be the square root of 3² + 5², which is 5.8m. This is just a very simple example, trigonometry is used all the time in modern games along with other maths.
It is certainly used in calculus, just as calculus can be used in trigonometry.

Trigonometry is used in the design and construction of buildings, cars, planes, and many other objects. Trigonometry is used in physics and engineering whenever forces, waves, fields, and vectors are involved. Trigonometry is used in music and acoustics to design speakers, instruments, and concert halls. Trigonometry is used to coordinate launches OS space shuttles. Trigonometry is used to navigate ships and planes. Nearly every part of modern life uses trigonometry in some way.
