It all depends on the other dimensions of the suitcase and also of the trunk. To illustrate this I am going to use some unlikely dimensions. But they should show that you cannot give a proper answer with only partial information.
Suppose the 22" suitcase has a height of 8 inches.
Suppose the 9 cubic foot trunk has dimensions 36 feet*6inches*6inches ie a long narrow trunk. Then you will not get even a single suitcase in.

It is 7.83 gallons per inch. .785x4x4x1=12.56 cubic feet. 12.56 cubic feet x 7.48 gallons per cubic foot=93.9 gallons per foot 93.9 gallons per foot / 12 inches per foot =7.83 gallons per inch.
How many cubic yards in an 12 foot diameter circle with a 4 inch thickness?
Cubic inch is 1 inch x 1 inch x 1 inch There are 12 inches in a foot, so 1 cubic foot = 12 x 12 x 12 = 1728 cubic inches. Hence a cubic foot is 1728 times bigger than a cubic inch
square feet
One cubic foot is equal to 1,728 cubic inches. Therefore, one cubic foot is 1,728 times larger than one cubic inch.
2000 cubic foot = 2000 (cubic foot) x 1728 (cubic inch/cubic foot) x 16.387 (cubic cm/cubic inch)x1/1000000(cubic meter/cubic cm) = 56.6337 cubic meter from the above answer we get: 25 cubic meters = 882.867 cubic foot

A cubic foot measures 12 inch x 12 inch x 12 inch (LxWxH) Therefore there are 12x12x12 = 1728 cubic inch in each cubic foot.
1 foot = 12 inch 0.15 cubic feet = 0.15 x 123 cubic inch = 259.2 cubic inch
