In dry air (68F) the speed of sound is 343 meters per second

∙ 14y agoThe speed of sound varies greatly, depending on the material it goes through - in some cases, by a factor of 5 or more. The speed of sound in air will depend slightly on temperature, pressure, etc., but it is about 340 meters/second. I'll leave it up to you to convert that to mph.
Velocity is a vector quantity that measures speed (and also includes direction). 55 mph is a speed. 55mph North is a velocity.
mph is a measure of speed, km is a measure of distance. Speed = Distance/Time. You cannot convert distance into speed without knowledge of the time taken for the journey.
The speed of sound is around 760 miles per hour = Mach 1. So Mach 4 is 4*760 = 3040 mph.
Average speed is 50 mph [(40+60)/2].
About 750 mph. The speed of sound.
The speed of sound in MPH is 768 at 20C in dry air.
Way slower. For reference, the speed of sound is about 767.3 mph and the speed of light is 671,000,000 mph.
No, tornadoes cannot travel faster than the speed of sound. The fastest tornado winds ever recorded were around 300 mph, while the speed of sound is approximately 767 mph. Therefore, tornadoes are not capable of exceeding the speed of sound.
Yes, the stealth bomber can fly faster than the speed of sound. It has a top speed of about 600 mph, which is faster than the speed of sound (around 760 mph).
Speed of light (in vacuum)= approx 671,000,000 mph.Speed of sound (in air at sea level) = approx 760 mph.
1337 mph
Nope. The speed of sound is ABOUT 760 mph. Fastest human runner is 27.79 mph. Not even close.
The speed of sound at sea level is approximately 750 mph.
around 3000 mph
That all depends on the altitude the mach speed is occurring at. Mach 1 is defined as the speed of sound which is a function of fluid density. In air at sea level and normal temperature, 0.85 mach = ~647 mph 0.85mach ~.(0.85*330)mph
Approximately 768 mph or 1,236 km/h.
