If the diameter is 4 inches then the area is Pi/4 x 42 = 4*Pi

If the diameter is 8 inches then the area is Pi/4 x 82 = 16*Pi

If you needed the surface area and the diameter was 4 inches and the height was 8 inches, then the surface area would be (circumference) x height = (Pi x 4) x 8 = 32*Pi square inches.

Of course Pi = 3.14159 to the nearest 5th decimal.
