Before training for a 5K, consult your doctor to make sure that you don't have any conditions that will be affected by training. After he or she gives you the okay, start making subtle changes in your diet (if you eat french fries and candy bars every day, that's not a good way to train for a 5K).
Start training slowly. Don't expect to run a mile or two the first time that you train. Walk, jog, walk...and then work your way towards running.
Good luck!
A 5K race is equivalent to 5 kilometers, which is equal to 5000 meters. Since a standard track is 400 meters long, you would need to complete 12.5 laps around the track to cover a distance of 5000 meters. Therefore, a 5K race would require you to run around the 400 m track 12.5 times.
A 5K run is a distance of 3.11 miles.
Yes. 5000 meters = 5k meters.
O
5k + 7 + 3k can be simplified into 8k + 7
20 minutes is an average tome for a 5k race.
10k is 6.2 miles so 5k is 3.1miles
There is no such thing. A marathon is a distance race that is 26.2 miles in length.
Age is of very little importance to running a 5K race. As long as you are in good shape and are confident in your ability to complete your goal, you are able to take part in a 5K race.
3.1 miles :D

Stupid question...
Some runners (like me) actually go jogging the day of or day after a 5k race. The Lactic acid stays in your legs for some time after a race, and running pushed blood through, breaking up the acid and helping your legs heal.
If you are a women and are participating in a 5K race, then yes you should by some running shoes. Running shoes are designed to be more comfortable and safer than regular casual shoes.
