How to figure square feet?

measure your length and your width of the area. Convert the inches to feet before or after you multiply the length times the width. That gives you your square feet.

for example, if you have measurements of 36 inches and 42 inches you can multiply 36 x 42 then convert to feet or convert first by dividing your units by 12...

36 inches / 12 inches per foot = 3 ft.

42 inches / 12 inches per foot = 3.5 ft.

3 feet x 3.5 feet = 10.5 square feet
