Lithium is the lightest metal. Its density is 0.53 gram/cm3 .

Carbon exists in at least 4 different 'allotropes',

with the following densities:

Amorphous carbon (charcoal, soot, etc.) . . 1.8 to 2.1

Buckminsterfullerene C60 . . . . . . . .. . . . . . 1.69

Graphite (pencil lead, dry lubricant, etc.) . . 1.9 to 2.3

Diamond. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3.50 to 3.53

So if you have equal volumes of lithium and carbon, the carbon has

at least 3.19 times the mass of the lithium, and possibly as much as

6.66 times its mass.
