A 3-dimensional object (NOT figure) is measurement in Cubic Units).

Its surface area is measuremd in Square Units.

For example if we use an house brick . Its dimensions may be 9inches, x 4 inches, x 3 inches.

Its volume is 9 ins X 4 ins X 3 ins. = 108 cu.ins. (Cubic Inches).

Its surface are will have 6 faces. ; 2 @ (9 x 4) 2 @ ( 4 x 3 ) and 2 @ (9 x 3)

So its surface area is 2(36 sq.ins) + 2(12sq. ins) + 2(27sq.ins) =

72 + 24 + 54 = 150 sq. ins. ( square inches).

NB A 3-dimensional is an OBJECT

A 2-dimensional us a FIGURE .

A 1-dimensional is a LINE
