it's mainly binary and floating point, such as:
[unsigned] char
[unsigned] [{short|long|long long}] int
and
[long] float
double
Qualitative and quanitative are two types of variables.
The two types of variables are the CONSTANT and CONTROL.
In statistics or data management, there are two main types of variables. Each of these types of variables can then be divided into two more types of variables.1. Categorical variableA categorical variable is commonly known as a qualitative variable. Every response can be placed into a category. A response may fit into a specific category (mutually exclusive), or it may fit into a category such as "other" along with other responses (exhaustive). Categorical variables are either nominal or ordinal. A nominal variable is a word that describes a category (i.e. horse, dog, cat) and the order does not matter. An ordinal variable uses categories that have to be placed in an order (i.e. very bad, bad, ok, good, very good).2. Numeric variableA numeric variable is a variable that is expressed by a real number. It is commonly referred to as a quantitative variable. Numeric variables can either be continuous or discrete. A continuous variable is variable that can assume an infinite number of real values (i.e. 2.345....). These variables are often grouped into class intervals. A discrete variable is a variable with a finite number of real values (i.e. shoe size).Grade 12 Data Management class
In programming, decimal numeric variables are often represented using the data type float or double, and they may not have a specific symbol but are typically formatted with a decimal point (e.g., 3.14). String variables are usually denoted by enclosing the text in quotation marks (either single or double, e.g., 'Hello' or "World"). Additionally, in some languages, the $ symbol is used to denote string variables (e.g., in PHP), while others may use specific prefixes or annotations to indicate variable types.
For example if your testing different types of fertilizers, then some plants may grow tallershort/not at all. I got this from a web site
If they are instance variables the default initial value is 0. If they are method local variables, they are null and must be initialized to some value before they are used
the two types of data used in Qbasic is numeric data and alpha numeric data.

Independent and dependent are types of variables. These variables are used mostly in science and math. When using independent variables you can control them dependent variables you cannot.
Environment Variables: Sometimes called special shell variables, keyword variables, predefined shell variables, or standard shell variables, they are used to tailor the operating environment to suit your needs. Examples include PATH, TERM, HOME, and MAIL.User-defined Variables: These are variables that you create yourself.Positional Parameters: These are used by the shell to store the values of command-line arguments
nominal and ordinal is wrong; those are the two types of qualitative variables. Ratio and interval are the two types of quantitative variables.
there are three types of constants in COBOL 1. numeric literals 2. figurative constants 3. non-numeric literals

controlled,manipulated,responding variables
There are three types of variables tested: manipulated variables, controlled variables, and experimental variables.
