Mach refers to the speed of sound. A plane that travels at Mach 2 means that it travels twice the speed of sound in air. The actual speed will vary a bit depending on the altitude.
Mach number is a measure of relative speed. It is the speed of something relative to a medium, usually air, and divided by the speed of sound in that medium: : : is the Mach number : is the velocity of the object relative to the medium used and : is the velocity of sound in the medium Mach number is the number of times the speed of sound an object or a duct, or the fluid medium itself, move relative to each other. It is named afteran Austrian physicist Ernst Mach.
Ernst Mach .
Critical Mach Number has nothing (directly) to do with altitude. Mach Number has everything to do Temperature,
Mach 6 is about 4,449.3 mph
Mach 0.8 = about 593.2 mph
Mach 1 is the speed of sound. 768 miles per hr. Mach 2 is twice that & so on.
If it is civil , its mach 1.- mach 2 ,name is Concorde & in defence they go beyond mach 2
The speed of a commercial airplane is about 0.8 mach
The "Mach number" is the speed of the aircraft as a percentage of the speed of sound. So an aircraft going at Mach 0.74 is traveling at 74% of the speed of sound. (Mach 0.74 is a typical airliner speed.)
Mach 3.5 by SR-71.
The fastest Boeing airplane is the Boeing 747-8. It has a top speed of approximately Mach 0.855, which translates to around 700 miles per hour.
An aircraft that flies faster than Mach 1- or about 770 miles an hour at sea level.
Critical Mach Number, or Mcr, refers to the lowest Mach number that air going over and around an aircraft can reach the speed of sound. If an airplane goes over its Mcr, handling might be greatly affected.
A Boeing 787 airplane can travel at the top speed of mach 0.89! Mach 0.89=677 mph The Boeing 787 can reach the top speed of 677 miles per hour!
The SR-71 recon airplane holds that record. Top speed classified, but admitted as at least mach 3.3, The X-15 rocket plane is the very fastest at Mach 6.6, but was purely a research aircraft.
At high speeds and altitudes
Go to the department store and mach all of the numbers or cheat for them.
Every airplane has its own speed limits. Most small and commercial planes fly below Mach (the speed of sound). Military fighters and some other planes, like Concorde, fly above Mach, or supersonically.
