Inventions- China creates new technologies The Chinese were a very intelligent nationality. Much of their inventions were eventually shared with western civilizations. The wheelbarrow, the compass, the stirrup, and paper making are all examples of useful items the Chinese invented. After the idea of paper making spread to other people, even more inventions were made. In 1440, a man by the name of Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press. This invention allowed for mass productions of printed books to be made. The more books that were printed, the more people read. When people read more, they became smarter. Therefore, with each new invention, society was becoming even more intelligent. Trade- Crusades advance trade system The changes that took place after the Crusades were many positive advancements. Before the Crusades happened, wealth was based only on land ownership and people paid each other using the Barter system. People often traded items such as wheat, fish, linen and Flemish wool. However, after the Crusades were over, the economic system became more complex. As a result of the Crusades, wealth was now based on both land and money, and people paid by exchanging coins. Even their trading goods improved. They could now trade silk, spices, cotton and porcelain.
