In Electronics Engineering the only statistical methods that reasonably can be applied are the descriptive methods and least square curve fitting ones.
In all cases the inferential statistical methods should be avoided.
Inferential methods try to retreive a theory from a data set.
Correct science works the other way around.
Communications in Statistics was created in 1970.
application of statistics in engineering field
Civil engineering includes many disciplines including structural engineering, water resource management, waste water engineering and environmental engineering. In each of these disciplines, there is applications of statistics and probability theory. Some topics I have taken from a recent conference on probability and statistics in Civil Engineering (see link):- Loss estimation- Risk assessment and management- Hazard analysis- Probabilistic design- Risk-based optimal design- Maintenance and inspection- Concrete and wood structures- Bridges and special structures- Geoengineering- Earthquake engineering- Wind engineeringThe disciplines of both statistics and probability are important in Civil Engineering. Loss estimation and risk assessment are more in the area of probability modeling, however statistical analysis is necessary to ensure valid data is used in modeling. In addition to the above, air and water pollution analyses requires statistics.See related link.
Population studies is one area which requires mathematics and statistics.

Communication engineering is totally statistical. In computer science it has also various applications. search related items in google and read.
importance of statistics in electrical engineering
There are many applications of statistics in education. Statistics are used to better prepare students for the real world and testing for example.
application of statistics in engineering field
Courses in statistics can be taught within many departments. I learned statistics in 4 different departments: Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics and Environmental Engineering. Business and finance schools also offer courses in statistics.

The importance of statistics in computer engineering is for ISO certifications and process verification. It is also used in keeping parameter within a controlled process.
As well as their use within mathematics, complex numbers have practical applications in many fields, including physics, chemistry, biology, economics, electrical engineering, and statistics.
