The NOAA gives rainfall totals for Chicago/O'Hare, which is the closest "official" tally, at: http://www.crh.noaa.gov/lot/?n=ordmonthly Just select a month and check the "PCPN/WTR" column (precipitation/water...as opposed to snow).
