Not sure if you want just a positive and a negative integer, added or more info.

2 positive integers a & b (easiest)

a + b the result is positive.

2 negative integers a & b

Add the magnitude of a and magnitude of b, the result is negative.

Example -2 + -5 = -(2+5) = -(7) = -7

a is positive, b is negative, take the difference of the magnitudes, then

if |a| (magnitude of a) greater than |b| (magnitude of b), the result is positive.

if |a| (magnitude of a) less than |b| (magnitude of b), the result is negative.

Example: 2 + -5 (the difference of magnitudes is 5-2 = 3

The negative number has a bigger magnitude, so the answer is negative: -3

-2 + 5

The difference is still 3, but the positive number has bigger magnitude,

so the result is positive: +3

What is the rule in adding positive integers?

Adding IntegersTo add integers, one must consider the following two rules to be a successful. If you want to think of it on the number line you start from 0 and when you add a positive number you go that much to the right, and when you add a negative number you go that much to the left. When adding two positive integers, just add like normal. When adding one positive integer, and one negative integer, it is like subtracting a positive number from a positive number. When adding two negative integers, it is like subtracting a positive number from a negative number.

Rules for adding integers?

When you add: a negative and a negative: you get a negative a positive and a positive: you get a positive a positive and a negative or a negative and a positive: Subtract the addend with the smaller value from the greater one. If the greater one is positive, your answer will be positive. If the greater addend is negative, your answer will be negative.
