Abbie Hoffman, became the nucleus of the Yippies [i.e, "Youth International Party"] two months later [December, 1967 as announced in Paul Krassner's magazine THE REALIST] There is a sound clip of the levitation on the Fugs' album TENDERNESS JUNCTION. Ed Sanders of the Fugs can be heard in the clip reciting an incantation; Abbie Hoffman can be heard repeating a phrase or two said by Sanders. "Circle of protection" is one such phrase as I recall. I don't have the LP at hand [nor a way to play it as of yet] I also don't have the books at hand to check, but perhaps the levitation is described in Norman Mailer's THE ARMIES OF THE NIGHT and Hoffman's REVOLUTION FOR THE HELL OF IT.
