The horizontal axis is the x axis on the Cartesian plane whereas the vertical axis is the y axis and both axes meet at right angles at the point of origin which is at (0, 0)

The Cartesian plane is usually represented by two axes - number lines - that meet at right angles at a point called the origin. The horizontal axis, also called the x-axis, goes from left to right.
