14 is the same as 56/4 (i just multiplied both the top and bottom by four), and 12/4 is twelve fourths
56/4 + 12/4 = 68/4
this can also be reduced down into 17/1 which is the same as 17
*note* i broke 14 into a fraction that has a common denominator to that of 12/4 just to show how fractions can be used in this scenario. I could of also easily converted the fraction 12/4 into the whole number 3 and it would of been 14 + 3 which is the same answer. I just wanted to show the other method to revamp any fractional practice you might need.
Twelve and three fourths.
12 + 16/12 + 9/12 + 1/12 = 12 and 26/12 = 14 and 1/6
Two fourths of twelve can be calculated by first simplifying two fourths to one half. Then, one half of twelve is six. Therefore, two fourths of twelve equals six.
10 and 3/4 plus 3 and 3/4 = 14 and 1/2 or 14.5
