∙ 14y agoI believe its in the pre-treatment of the ball. The match ball is pre-stressed at the factory to reduce the flexing of the material when kicked and has a differing type of air valve which is harder wearing to take the impact of the competitive game - it stays inflated to match regulations for longer- this is not the case with a training ball which comes off the production line as is without pre-stressing and a standard valve seating

Rugby pitches go up to 100m in length, so it would be the length of two rugby pitches.
